| Introduction |
Science and Technology have a primary role to play in the overall development of any continent and Africa is no exception. Africa, being one of the world’s richest regions in terms of natural resources, agricultural capacity and man-power; highlights the need for optimally utilizing what modern science and technology offers to us at large.
Africa also has a pool of talent in diverse fields of research, which are slowly and steadily gaining ground. The field of geospatial sciences is one such example where researchers and professionals are working together to achieve the objectives they have set for the development of this region.
Following the successful completion of Map Africa 2007 in October last year, this year again, GIS Development presents Map Africa 2008, the Third Annual African Conference and Exhibition on Geospatial Information, Technology and Applications. Map Africa promises to provide a platform to all stakeholders - Researchers, Users, Technology Developers, and Policy Makers to facilitates interactions and discussions amongst them as well as share and promote the latest developments in the field in terms of products and services.
